Osteopathy
What is an Osteopath?
An Osteopath is a government registered health professional that has completed the necessary university training to treat musculoskeletal health problems.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine that emphasises a holistic approach to diagnose, prevent and treat many health issues affecting the physical body. You will find that an Osteopath works with your body’s own natural healing ability to restore balance to the entire body.
Osteopathic treatment focuses on the physical body with a ‘hands on’ approach to address your individual needs. Osteopathic treatment does not simply look at the site of your pain, but assesses and balances all aspects of your structural framework. Any underlying issues are assessed along with your presenting health conditions.
Treatment usually consists of gentle manipulation, mobilisation and stretching of the muscles, ligaments and joints. Visceral organ and cranial techniques may also be incorporated to address your specific health needs.
Osteopathy is form of treatment that dates back to the 1800’s when Dr Andrew Tailer Still, an American Physician developed a system of health care that recognized that the human body will always seek to be healthy and that given the right circumstances the body will heal itself in accordance with the laws of nature.
Osteopathic Treatment
Osteopathic treatment will address a range of musculoskeletal health conditions. This includes common aches and pains due to strains, falls and overuse, as well as more long term health problems.
